New Publication in HepatoBiliary Surgery and Nutrition:
Joint iLDLTG & ILLS Consensus Recommendations for MIDH Techniques
On behalf of the International Living Donor Liver Transplantation Group (iLDLT Group) and the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS), we are pleased to announce the online publication of our joint expert consensus on surgical techniques for minimally invasive donor hepatectomy (MIDH) in HepatoBiliary Surgery and Nutrition (HBSN).
Following a 2022 joint global survey on MIDH practices (Troisi et al., Current status of minimally invasive surgery for donor hepatectomy: A worldwide survey [A joint initiative of ILLS and iLDLT Group], Transplantation, 2025), 36 leading MIDH experts across six specialized working groups collaborated to establish standardized technical guidelines covering patient positioning and port placement, hilar dissection, hepatic parenchymal transection, bile duct division, vascular division and graft extraction, and anesthesia and pain management.
Draft statements were reviewed and voted on during the 7th World Congress of the iLDLT Group in Shanghai (October 17–19, 2025), followed by a final voting round by the expert panel.
Designed to complement existing donor safety guidelines, this consensus provides living donor liver transplantation teams worldwide with standardized, practical technical guidance for MIDH.
We sincerely thank all the authors, expert panel members, and everyone who took part in the consensus process. Their dedication made this work possible. We hope it will be a useful reference for your team and contribute to advancing safe minimally invasive living donation worldwide.
